After a few months of working several hours a day on content, I’ve been analyzing my analytics and only getting ten or so readers a day (some not really reading), so I’m locking down for the moment to prepare for NaNoWriMo next month- hard enough to write a novel in one month, let alone come up with thoughtful discussions and do the related artwork, etc. to go with it.
I understand that the popular trend on the internet is to have a blog of no interest, with horrible grammar, and no posts longer than two sentences. I shall never do such a thing, so my blogs- particularly my posts meant to inspire discussion and conversation, are apparently above the heads (and past the goldfish-attention spans) of most blog readers.
I am working on my outline for NaNoWriMo next month, and then will be writing to get those 50,000 words done within November.
Afterward, I’ll be re-examining the blog situation, but I’m coming to the conclusion that as with most things in life, I just don’t fit in to the societal norms. Since I wasn’t one of the first bloggers around, and since I don’t have a built-in audience (as a celebrity, for instance) I have learned there’s no way to draw eyes to your writing. It is NOT about quality content- it’s about having money, and being able to pay the bucks for advertising to spam the hell out of the internet.
I may relaunch in December, I may rework to a new theme, or I may convert the blog to a personal space or, since the lies and attacks from the political right continue unabated, I may turn it into a political fact-site.
For those who’ve visited and enjoyed anything, thanks, I appreciate your visit(s).
