“The: This is not Spanish or French”
If you’ve ever studied Spanish or French (among other similar languages) you know that nouns are often preceeded by use of the word “the”- often used to signify the gender of the noun. Thankfully English doesn’t deal with gendered words, but at the same time, we do love to abuse the word “the”. It is a key word, and necessary in many instances. However, there are just as many instances it is completely capable of being done away with in order to tighten the Tweet you’re writing.
Let’s examine some samples:
The, the, the, the, the. It’s just not needed in so many instances! That little world will clear out a massive amount of your wasted space. Watch the magic happen…
-11 under to 20 over the 140 limit. And, your Tweet is now uncluttered from a plethora of “the”s that just bog down the readability! There will certainly be instances where you must leave “the” in for that part of the sentence to make sense, but frankly for your puroses on Twitter, those instances will be quite rare. Look to hunt down and kill “the” whenever you can- and you’ll free up a ton of your 140 cap!
